About FirstRand Graduate Program

The FirstRand Youth Development Graduate Program is a 12-month contract for unemployed South African graduates to join the FirstJob work experience program. The focus of this program is to improve the employability of successful candidates. Throughout the program, the participants will have an opportunity to build workplace confidence and competence by contributing to business objectives and deliverables. The incumbent will be required to successfully complete the prescribed development program.

Eligibility Criteria

Interested participants should meet these requirements;

  • You must be between the ages of 18 – 34
  • You must have obtained a relevant post-matric qualification
  • You must have been unemployed for at least the last 6 months
  • You must have no or limited work experience – i.e. a total of fewer than twelve months’ work experience and/or of a part-time, casual nature.
  • This must be your FIRST job experience
  • The youth must also not have previously participated in the FirstJob program at any of the FirstRand franchises, and not worked for FirstRand before.

Other Eligibility Criteria

  • A recognized Diploma
  • A recognized Bachelor’s degree is advantageous
  • These will be matched against the requirements of Business Units across FirstRand
  • No formal (corporate) work experience Skills required include:
  • Analytical Thinking
  • Excellence and quality orientation
  • Building relationships
  • Teamwork
  • Problem-solving
  • Learning agility
  • Resilience and Stress Management
  • Drive and Results Orientation

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellence and quality orientation in all assigned tasks, deliverables, and projects.
  • Execute role responsibilities efficiently through careful and timely planning, reporting, and updating.
  • Contribute to projects through proactive, innovative, and appropriate inputs.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing with peers and stakeholders.
  • Manage own development plan to increase competencies and skills through various channels.
  • Attend and meet all the requirements of the FirstJob Development Programme with relevant training institution(s).
  • Adheres to and advocates FirstRand’s shared values and business philosophy
