KYEOP Application Form Portal, Requirements and All You Need To Know About Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project

The Kenyan government has come up with several initiatives to help solve the problem of unemployment in the country and also reduce youth restiveness.

In order to achieve this, they have created some programs to benefit the youth directly some of which include;

• Support for Setting up Business
• Sh120 million youth project
• MbeleNaBiz
• Future Bora Initiative and
• Access to Government Procurement Opportunities(AGPO)

All these programs which are directly under the KYEOP are meant to help both educated and uneducated youths gain the right skill or start a business in other to be gainfully employed in society.

About the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project

The Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project(KYEOP) is an initiative of the Kenyan government in partnership with the world bank with the aim of addressing the issue of unemployment amongst Kenyan youths through skill training, internship, and business grant opportunities.

The Ksh.15 billion projects which is targeted towards making sure 50,000 are empowered also aims at increasing employment and earning opportunities for young people between the age of 18-29 years irrespective of their education level. The project is expected to run for a period of 5 years in other to meet the said target.

A total of 750 youth-owned enterprises are also expected to receive financing through the  MbeleNaBiz where 250 beneficiaries will each receive grants of Ksh.3.6 million and 500 beneficiaries awarded with Ksh.900,000 each.

Eligibility 

To participate in the KYEOP program, interested candidates are to meet some eligibility criteria;

• Applicant should be a youth aged between 18-29
• Applicant’s education level should be up to form four or below
• Applicant must be a Kenyan citizen
• Candidate must be currently unemployed/underemployed
• You must not currently be enrolled in school or planning to join in the next 8 months
