The management of Standard Bank Group invites African undergraduates and postgraduate students studying in any of the following fields; Agriculture, Commerce, Engineering, Mathematics, Science (Actuarial, Analytics, Business, Computer, Data, Information), Statistics, Technology (Financial, Information) and the disciplines in the emerging field of Behavioural Economics (Economics, Behavioural Finance, Sociology, Psychology, Neuroscience) to submit their application forms for the Standard Bank Group Bursary Programme. About Standard Bank Group Bursary Programme

The Standard Bank Group Bursary Programme is designed to promote academic excellence and shape the next generation of African talent and African leaders. The bursary considers undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the above-mentioned fields of study. If you are a student of any of the above fields, you can submit your application form now.

Note: beneficiaries of this bursary program will be required to work for Standard Bank if they receive an offer of employment from the Bank upon graduation.

Standard Bank Undergraduate Bursary

The undergraduate bursary program is specific to students who are on track to complete their 1st year and require funding from their 2nd year of studies onwards. Applicants should be well-rounded with strong academic results in funded qualifications.

Minimum Selection Criteria for Undergraduates

  • You must have achieved an average of 65% and above in the latest examinations.
  • Applicants must be registered for full-time undergraduate studies.
  • You will be required to participate in a formal assessment process including but not limited to Psychometric evaluation and an interview.
  • Financial need is considered in applications.

Standard Bank Postgraduate Bursary

The Standard Bank Group Bursary provides full-cost bursaries to financially deserving and academically sound students wishing to pursue postgraduate studies in the funded study fields(mentioned above).

Minimum Selection Criteria for Postgraduate

  • Applicants must have achieved an average of 65% and above in the latest examinations.
  • Applicants must register for full-time postgraduate studies at a public South African institution of higher learning
  • Applicants will be required to participate in a formal assessment process including but not limited to Psychometric evaluation and interview.
  • Financial need is considered in applications.

Areas Covered By this Bursary

The Standard Bank Group Bursary Fund is a full-cost bursary program that covers the following study and study-related costs;

  • University fees
  • Accommodation – in a university residence or private accommodation. Private accommodation costs will be subject to certain limits, to be explained to successful candidates upon the provisional bursary allocation.
  • Meals – provided by the university or self-catering.
  • Books and other study materials.
  • A laptop computer.
  • A monthly stipend to cover other living costs.
  • Transport between home and campus 4 times a year at the cost of a bus ticket.

To qualify, applicants must be well-rounded academically, with strong performance in any of the following fields:

  • Accounting
  • Actuarial science
  • Analytics
  • Commerce
  • Computer and data science
  • Economics
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Information technology
  • Investments
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics.
