Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified and eligible unemployed South Africans for the 2024 Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority(SASSETA) Bursary program. About SASSETA Bursary

The Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) serves the safety and security environment of South Africa with the facilitation of skills development and qualifications. It promotes a culture of continuous learning and creates opportunities for skills transfer for all young South Africans seeking recognized industry qualifications.

Areas Covered by Bursary

This bursary program covers the following areas and the value will vary depending on your program and need.

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Study materials and books
  • Accommodation
  • Meals

Outside these costs, bursars will also receive a living allowance. Once awarded, the students cannot use the amount for any purpose other than the ones specified. You can’t also transfer or exchange this bursary for other benefits. Shortlisted candidates will be given further information regarding the bursary terms and conditions through their registered email address.

  • Security Management
  • Clinical Social Work
  • Nursing
  • Pharmacy
  • Psychology
  • IT Related Programmes
  • Any Occupation listed in the National List of Occupations in High Demand 2020

Learners’ Eligibility Criteria for SASSETA Bursary Application

  • Unemployed Learners to be recruited must be South African Citizens
  • The learners must be registered in a South African University or TVET College for 2022
    academic year.
  • Learners with disabilities will be given preference.
  • Female learners will also be given preference.
  • Learners may not be participating in any other program funded by SASSETA e.g.
    Internships, leadership, etc in the current financial year (April 2022 to March 2023).
  • Preference will be given to learners without any other bursary or NSFAS.
  • Only learners with a combined household income below R600 000 will be considered.
  • Previous conduct with SASSETA-funded programs will be considered.

General Requirements

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be between 18 – 35 years
  • You must be residing within the Province
  • You must have completed the Matriculation
    You must be a full-time student and not part-time
  • You must be pursuing or willing to pursue a qualification in one of the fields of study mentioned above
  • You must be studying or willing to study at a tertiary institution that’s recognized and accredited
  • You must have completed a National Diploma in your field if applying for Advanced Diploma programs (National Diploma in Land Surveying if applying for Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying)
  • You must have completed a Bachelor of Architectural Studies with Honours if applying for Architecture (Masters) program
