TSC Registration Status and TSC Number Application Requirements 2023/2024

TSC Registration Status – The Kenya Teachers Service Commission Act 2012, requires the commission to register all qualified teachers before they can teach in any public or private institution. A teacher who meets the requirements for registration will be issued with the certificate of Registration bearing a TSC number within 30 days. The names of all registered teachers will be published every year.

How to Check TSC Registration Status

If you have completed your registration and have waited for 30 days without getting approval, or you still don’t know your TSC Registration Status, you may need to visit the registration portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke to make sure your application was submitted successfully. You can also check to make sure there was no error in your application as this might lead to a delay in the confirmation or TSC number issuing process.

TSC Number Application Requirements

All intending teachers are required to apply for registration online. All applicants should scan and upload the following documents:

  • Certified copies of academic and professional certificates
  • National identity card
  • One passport-size photo
  • KRA pin
  • GP69 form
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Entry and work permit for non-Kenyans

Once you have these documents, scan and upload the original copies on the TEACHERS ONLINE website. You can take clear photos using a smartphone. Just make sure you place it on a clean surface and ensure your camera is clear enough to get a good picture.

TSC Number Application Fees

All intending teachers completing new registration are to pay a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 1050. This payment should be made during the process of registration through E-Citizen government payment methods (MPesa, Airtel Money, KCB Cash, Equity Cash, E-Agent), which is required before submitting your application.

For Duplicate Certificate Applications, a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 2050/- paid during the process through E-Citizen government payment methods (MPesa, Airtel Money, KCB Cash, Equity Cash, E-Agent), is required before submitting your application.

Possible Causes of Failed Registration

Applications for TSC numbers are declined in some cases and some of the main causes are;

  • Lack of proper relevant academic and professional qualifications/Missing documents
  • Bad moral conduct with former offense conflicts including sexual offense or any other offense against a learner
  • The previous record of criminal offenses renders the applicant unfit.
  • If the applicant suffers physical or mental infinity that renders them incapable of performing the duties of a teacher.
