This scholarship is only available for the Japan High School Year program that starts in Spring 2022. Students must meet the following eligibility requirements;
Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Thoughtful submission of a series of scholarship essay questions. Semi-finalists will be required to participate in an online interview.
Applicants must qualify for need-based assistance. Applicants/ Families informed of semi-finalist status are required to submit financial documentation for scholarship consideration. The Viaggio scholarship is available to students who have no former knowledge of the Italian language. The scholarship is neither based on financial need nor academic qualifications, but it does match the AFS Global Leadership Needs Scholarship, which is available to students from families earning $65000 or less. In Canada, meanwhile, this high school scholarship for the Italian language costs 2000 dollars.
