The Gauteng City Region Academy hereby invites interested and qualified South Africans to submit their application forms for the 2024 GCRA Bursary. All undergraduate and/or post-graduate students who wish to study in an accredited and registered Post School Education and Training institution in South Africa should apply for this bursary.

About Gauteng City Region Academy Bursary

The GCRA bursary is aimed at building a pool of skilled, capable, and ethical workforce for the Gauteng City Region. GCRA also offers other interventions such as internships, learnerships, skills programs, etc.

The GCRA bursary program is open to all qualifying youth, with particular preference given to youth from Gauteng, who wish to study for an undergraduate and/or post-graduate program at an accredited and registered Post School Education and Training institution in South Africa. The bursary covers the full cost of the study, with conditions, as stipulated in the bursary contract.

Eligibility Criteria for GCRA Bursary 

Interested and eligible applicants are to meet these requirements to be accepted into this bursary.

  • Applicant must be a South African citizen to be eligible
  • Applicant must be between 18 and 35 years old
  • More preference is given to residents of Gauteng province
  • You must have completed Matric in Gauteng
  • Applicant must have been registered/accepted to study an Undergraduate or Postgraduate program in the current academic year.
  • You must have been accepted to study at an accredited and registered Post School Education and Training institution in South Africa.
    • Public Higher Education Institutions,
    • private Higher Education Institutions,
    • Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges,
    • private colleges,
    • Community Education and Training colleges and skills development providers
  • Preference will be given to students pursuing studies in GGT2030 priority sectors such as;
    • Art and Design
    • Finance
    • Economics and Accounting
    • Electrical Infrastructure Construction
    • Civil Engineering Construction
    • Hospitality Management
    • IT and Computer Science
    • Mechanical Automotive
    • Mechanical Automotive and Diesel Engineering
    • Tourism
    • Transport and Logistics

List Of Documents Needed For GCRA Bursary

  • Certified copy of ID document
  • Matric certificate
  • Most recent academic record
  • Proof of registration or acceptance at a recognized PSET institution/ institution of higher learning (on institution letterhead)
  • Proof of address in Gauteng (Utility Bill)
  • A motivational letter stating why you should be awarded the bursary (maximum 2 pages)
  • Disability or medical report if disabled
  • Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income
  • Proof of any other bursaries you are currently receiving, if applicable
